After a fantastic start, Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar's Hindi Medium continued its blockbuster run at the China box office. The movie has raked in $21.32 million over the extended opening weekend, setting new records on its way. Talking about the detailed breakdown of China box office collections, trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed on Twitter, "#HindiMedium packs a SOLID TOTAL in *extended opening weekend* in China. Crosses *lifetime biz* [India] in weekend. Will be interesting to see how it fares on weekdays. Wed $ 3.42 million. Thu $ 6.29 million. Fri $ 6.05 million. Sat $ 3.82 million. Sun $ 1.74 million. Total: $ 21.32 million [Rs 138.42 crore]."
After the super success of content driven films like Secret Superstar, Dangal and Bajrangi Bhaijaan; we always knew Hindi Medium would perform well at the Chinese box office. However, little did we anticipate such a record breaking run from Hindi Medium. The inspirational film has impressed the audience and this in turn helped develop a tremendous word of mouth publicity for the movie. And this enabled the film to rake in such a large amount at the Chinese market. It is competing with the likes of Dangal and Bajarangi Bhaijaan, however it has not been able to match up to Secret Superstar's record breaking start.
