Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar's Hindi Medium not only impressed the audience in India, but it also raked in the moolah at the domestic box office, when it released last year. And after such an impressive run in India, looks like the film has gone on to break records in China too. Hindi Medium released in the country on April 4 and over the extended first week, it has raked in Rs 170.91 crore. As trade analyst - Taran Adarsh revealed on Twitter, "#HindiMedium bows with an IMPRESSIVE $ 26 million in an *extended* Week 1 in CHINA. Mon $ 1.30 million. Tue $ 1.23 million. Wed $ 1.16 million. Thu $ 1.09 million. Total: $ 26.20 million [Rs 170.91 crore]. Note: The film opened on Wed [4 April 2018], hence the data is of the *extended* Week 1 [9 days]."
Hindi Medium has a really heartwarming storyline, which really appealed to the Chinese audience. The people loved the movie and started raving about it instantly. This in turn gave rise to a decent word of mouth publicity, which allowed the movie to rake in such a huge amount of money at the Chinese box office. But while the film opened well, it has slowed down over the past few days. In its lifetime run, we guess, Hindi Medium will rake in Rs 200 crore at the China box office, which is fantastic to say the least.
