Housefull 4 is going from strength to strength at the box-office. Despite ubiquitous negative reviews, the reincarnation comedy has defied all media expectation to sail past the 150-crore mark in just nine days of its release, witnessing another jump on its second Saturday and standing tall with hitherto Rs. 159.46 crore nett in its kitty. In the course of its dream run at cinema halls, the film has also surpassed the lifetime collections of Chhichhore, Total Dhamaal, Kesari, and Saaho (Hindi), within the course of a single day to emerge as the sixth-highest grosser of 2019.
Highest-grossing Bollywood films of 2019:
War: 314.67 cr nett
Kabir Singh: 278.24 cr nett
Uri: 245.36 cr nett
Bharat: 211.07 cr nett
Mission Mangal: 206.75 cr nett
Housefull 4: 159.46 cr nett
Kesari: 154.41 cr nett
Total Dhamaal: 154.23 cr nett
Saaho (Hindi): 152.49 cr nett
Chhichhore: 153.30 cr nett
Earlier, Housefull 4 has gone past films like Super 30, Dream Girl, and Gully Boy, and it was only a matter of time before it went higher up the pecking order. However, it now has some distance to cover before overtaking the business of the likes of Mission Mangal (currently Akshay’s highest grosser) and Bharat as both those films are sitting pretty above 200 crore nett. How well it holds from Monday onward, followed by how much it earns once Bala, Midway, and Doctor Sleep hit screens next Friday, will decide on where it ends up among the top-grossing Bollywood releases this year.
