Irrfan Khan's Hindi Medium is shattering the records of many Bollywood biggies at the box office courtesy to its phenomenal business in the Chinese market. The educational drama currently stands with the grand total of Rs 313.76 crore at the global market and with this business, it has surpassed the lifetime collection of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani which is Rs 311 crore. Hindi Medium has already crossed Rs 200 crore mark at the Chinese box office.
Directed by Saket Chaudhary, the film also stars Saba Qamar, Deepak Dobriyal, Amrita Singh and Neha Dhupia in pivotal roles. Talking about film’s success he further said, “Whether it is the success of ‘Hindi Medium’ in China or ‘Raid’ doing such phenomenal business here, it only reinforces our belief that a good story is what connects with the audience. For us, the key decisions have been to pick stories that have a universal appeal. These are the fruits of those decisions and we are overwhelmed.”
Before the release, when Saket was that whether Hindi Medium will be able to do better business than Aamir’s films? He replied, “I think all of us owe Aamir Khan for showing an initiative and vision in taking Hindi cinema to a new and large audience. Without ‘Dangal’, the Chinese audience may not have been familiar with the new Hindi cinema emerging here that blends entertainment with strong social themes.” Anyway, do you think the film will touch the Rs 300 crore mark in China?
