Director Saket Chaudhary's Hindi Medium has achieved one more milestone at the global box office. The educational drama which turned out to be a sleeper hit last year at the domestic box office is performing phenomenally well in China. The film had grossed Rs 108.55 crore globally in 2017. And now the film has grossed Rs 192.58 crore at the Chinese box office. Hindi Medium currently stands with the grand total of Rs 301.13 crore at the global market. Interestingly, the film has beaten the worldwide collections of Shah Rukh Khan's Raees and Salman Khan's Dabangg 2 at the box office.
After Secret Superstar and Bajrangi Bhaijaan this is the third Bollywood film which, has released in China in 2018. Talking about film’s success he further said, “Whether it is the success of ‘Hindi Medium’ in China or ‘Raid’ doing such phenomenal business here, it only reinforces our belief that a good story is what connects with the audience. For us, the key decisions have been to pick stories that have a universal appeal. These are the fruits of those decisions and we are overwhelmed.”
The film’s story revolves around a couple who want to give their daughter the best education so that she will be accepted by the elite. Apart from the lead cast, the film also stars Deepak Dobriyal and Tilottama Shome in pivotal roles. Interestingly, the lead actor Irrfan had bagged the Filmfare Best Actor Award for his extraordinary portrayal in the film.
