John Abraham and Manoj Bajpayee starrer Satyameva Jayate is refusing to slow down at the box office. Despite having limited screens and competition from Gold and Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi, the commercial masala entertainer is enjoying a decent run at the box office. The film raked in Rs 1.21 crore and now stands with the grand total Rs 88.15 crore. It will cross Rs 90 crore mark by today or tomorrow at the ticket windows.
Apparently, the film has turned out to John Abraham’s fourth-highest grosser of all-time after Housefull 2, Race 2 and Welcome Back. Despite being an ‘A’ rated film, Satyameva Jayate has managed to get great footfalls due to massy appeal and box office friendly genre. Talking about the film, it is written and directed by Milap Milan Zaveri and produced by Nikkhil Advani and Bhushan Kumar under the banners of Emmay Entertainment and T-Series. It also stars Amruta Khanvilkar and Aisha Sharma in pivotal roles.
Talking about the humongous success of the film, director Milap Zaveri told us, "I am overwhelmed, grateful, humbled and so happy because I made this movie for the masses. In recent times, we have stopped making a movie for the common man. The namaaz scene is my favourite and it has become a cult scene, where people are whistling and clapping nonstop for 10 minutes. Even during the Moharam scene, they were clapping nonstop. I feel grateful to the audience that they made this film such a huge hit. It is the biggest hit of John’s career, Nikkhil’s company and T-Series. In my career, it is my biggest hit ever. And it is my first hit as a director so I am very happy right now."
