John Abraham and Manoj Bajpayee starrer Satyameva Jayate is turning out to be a dark horse at the box office. After enjoying a decent second weekend, the commercial masala entertainer remained rock-steady on its second Monday by collecting Rs 1.49 crore, in fact, the film has performed better than Akshay Kumar's Gold which raked in Rs 1.45 crore yesterday. Satyameva Jayate currently stands with the grand total of Rs 85.48 crore. By looking at the current scenario, we are expecting the film to cross the Rs 90 crore mark by the end of its second week at the ticket windows.
Apparently, the film has turned out to John Abraham's fourth-highest grosser of all-time after Housefull 2, Race 2 and Welcome Back. Despite being an ‘A’ rated film, Satyameva Jayate has managed to get great footfalls due to massy appeal and box office friendly genre. Talking about the film, it is written and directed by Milap Milan Zaveri and produced by Nikkhil Advani and Bhushan Kumar under the banners of Emmay Entertainment and T-Series. It also stars Amruta Khanvilkar and Aisha Sharma in pivotal roles.
Despite receiving negative reviews from critics, SMJ was loved by the audience and the box office numbers are sufficient enough to prove this. Our critic, Ankita Chaurasia, gave the film 2 stars and said, “If watching the baddies being beaten to a pulp and burnt at stake by a too-good-to-be-true hero is your thing then Satyameva Jayate will interest you. Otherwise it will be like traveling back in time only to land up in a theatre playing an over-the-top, cliched affair.” Anyway, do you think that SMJ will enter the Rs 100 crore club?
