After showing a substantial growth over the weekend, Vidyut Jammwal and Pooja Sawant starrer Junglee remained steady on its first Monday at the ticket windows. The action-adventure film raked in Rs 2.40 crore yesterday and now stands at the grand total of Rs 16.25 crore. Going by the collections, we can say that Junglee has the potential to hold well in the weekdays and can earn around Rs 22 crore by the end of its first week.
Junglee revolves around a veterinary doctor, who upon returning to his father's elephant reserve encounters and fights an international poacher racket. Talking about preparations to play his character in Junglee, Jammwal said, "As it is a really different film, I had to prepare differently. This film is primarily based on forest animals. We had to live in forest and eat whatever was available there. When you do such films, you need to prepare mentally for these things."
Junglee is an action thriller and is directed by Chuck Russell and produced by Junglee Pictures. The film also stars Asha Bhat, Atul Kulkarni, Makarand Deshpande, Akshay Oberoi and Vishwanath Chatterjee in key roles. Since RAW and PM Narendra Modi are arriving this Friday, it will be interesting to see how Junglee will fare in its second week at the box office.
Despite getting mixed reviews from the cinegoers, Junglee is performing well at the box office due to its mass-appealing content. Our critic, Urmimala Banerjee gave the film 1.5 stars and wrote, "The film does not have a story as such and the dialogues are quite pedestrian. However, that is not the main problem. When you have an action star like Vidyut Jammwal with you, the fights have to be better. We have seen him do miracles with his body in the Commando series and Junglee is sorely disappointing on this front."
