Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil has earned Rs 6.04 crore on its first Monday taking its total to Rs 73.50 crore. The film, which has been doing decent business at the box office is continuing the same after the big weekend ended. On the outlook the business may not look like what a Hrithik Roshan starrer should earn but considering it clashed with Shah Rukh Khan's mighty Raees, make its Monday hold a strong one. After doing brisk business at the box office in its five day extended weekend, it was Monday that was crucial and looks like Kaabil has passed the test. The film is looking for a Rs 90 crore plus extended first week.
For all the unitiated, the film has already crossed Rs 100 crore mark in the worldwide gross and was a safe bet for its makers even before the release. Producer Rakesh Roshan broke down the details for us stating, “I sold the film for a lesser price to my distributors. I am the only producer who sells to individual distributors. My all India sale to distributors is not exceeding more than Rs. 42 crores. I made the film in, without counting Hrithik’s and my price, we have made the film at a budget of Rs.35 crore. Plus Rs. 15 cr on P&A. Satellite rights were sold for Rs. 50 cr, while music was sold for Rs 8 crore. Overseas went for Rs. 16 crore.” Also read: Raees vs Kaabil: It will be a win-win for both Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan
The icing on the cake was the critical acclaim film received all over. In fact it is Hrithik Roshan's highest rated movie since his debut Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai. Apart from Hrithik Roshan's star power it was film's story that worked in its favour. The film may catch up to Raees' daily collection in the coming week but it is to be seen whether it'll be able cross the overall collection of the film or not.
