Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani's Kabir Singh has surpassed everyone's expectations at the box office. The intense love story has garnered humongous footfalls in its opening and raked in Rs 134.32 crore at the ticket windows. With this total, it has tuned out to be the second highest opening grosser of the year after Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif's Bharat. Looking at the current trend, we are expecting the film to enter the Rs 200 crore club in its second week at the box office.
Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film also stars Soham Majumdar, Suresh Oberoi and Arjan Bajwa in key roles. It is produced under the banners of Cine 1 Studios and T-Series.
As per Shahid Kapoor, the film has a unique approach, which attracted him towards it. "It's what attracted me to the film in the first place. I believe there is a Kabir Singh inside everyone. That's why people can relate to him so easily." Talking about the film, it narrates the story of Kabir (Shahid), a young final year medical student who falls in love with Preeti, his junior in college. Kiara essays the role of a simple college girl Preeti in the film. It is a remake of the popular Telugu movie Arjun Reddy that originally starred Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey.
