It seems that Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt starrer Kalank has failed to strike the chord with the audience. Despite getting a wider release and with no competition, the magnum opus has failed to garner great footfalls post its opening day. The film witnessed a noticeable dip yesterday by raking in Rs 9.75 crore and now stands with the grand total of Rs 54.40 crore. Since there is no sign of a good trend, we don't expect a huge today from Kalank.
Talking about the reviews, our critic Urmimala Banerjee gave the film three stars and wrote, "Kalank is a fabulously mounted film with great performances. If you can overlook the length, it will be a good watch. This has to be one of Varun Dhawan's best." Produced under the banners of Dharma Productions, Nadiadwala and Grandson and Fox Star Studios, the film is directed by Abhishek Varman, who previously helmed Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt's 2 States. Kalank also stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Kunal Kemmu and Kiara Advani in pivotal roles.
Meanwhile, Varun will be next seen in Remo D'Souza's Street Dancer 3D. The film also stars Prabhudheva, Nora Fatehi, Sonam Bajwa, Shakti Mohan, Vartika Jha, Dharmesh Yelande, Punit Pathak and Raghav Juyal in key roles. The film will be shot in 3D and converted to 4DX later. It is scheduled to release on November 8. On the other hand, Alia Bhatt will feature in Ranbir Kapoor starrer Brahmastra, the film is scheduled for a December release and is helmed by Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani helmer Ayan Mukerji.
