The film fails to impress, collects only Rs 5.28 crore...
A lot was expected from the Kangana Ranaut and Imran Khan-starrer Katti Batti, however it seems the film has fared poorly at the box office. After receiving mixed reviews, the film witnessed a pan India occupancy of about 20-30 per cent only. At the end of Friday, the Nikhil Advani directional managed to collect only Rs 5.28 crore at the box office. Katti Batti has had a bad start, collecting even lesser than Hero which had two new comers- Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty.
As was expected, Katti Batti was off to a very poor start but surprisingly the film picked up a bit in the evening and night shows making its first day total a little better than was expected. Trade analyst and expert, Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures on his Twitter account saying, "#KattiBatti biz picked up during evening/night shows. Fri 5.28 cr. India biz."
However, the film may pick up on Saturday and Sunday as there is no other big release this week and Hero has also witnessed a fall in occupancy. With no other big releases next week also, the Kangana factor and a good word of mouth publicity can help the film to have a good lifetime collection. The plans of releasing Katti Batti in more single screen theatres in Tier II & III cities next week may also favour the film.
