Mardaani 2 has opened to low numbers at the box office. The Rani Mukerji starrer had an opening day collection of Rs 3.25 crore. On the other hand, Dwayne Johnson’s Jumanji - The Next Level fared better and made Rs. 5 crore. After the first part, where Police officer Shivani Shivaji Roy fought against human trafficking, this time, she will go against a young serial rapist and murderer, who strikes terror throughout the city he prowls. The mystery of who the guy is and how she nabs him, forms the crux of the story.
Mardaani 2 has film has opened to similar numbers as its first part, Mardaani. This is somewhat disappointing as we were expecting it to do better. There is a high chance that, just like the first part, the numbers will jump. The footfalls increased in the second half of Day 1, which probably means that the word of mouth is good. The film has garnered mostly positive reviews. Our film critic, Urmimala Banerjee gave the film 3 stars and wrote, “Mardaani 2 is a well-made crime thriller with a good topic of the growing number of criminals in the adolescent population. Rani Mukerji again reminds us of what a fine performer she is. The film hits home the reality that we aren't safe and need to be alert 24 x7.” (Also read: Mardaani 2 movie review: Rani Mukerji powers an engaging crime thriller)

The other releases of the week, The Body and Mudda 370 – picked up an estimated Rs 50 lakhs and Rs 10 lakhs respectively.
