Mary Kom, which released last week, is now slowly inching towards the Rs 50 crore mark
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's production venture Mary Kom starring Priyanka Chopra in the lead has managed to rake in good moolah at the box office so far. The film hit the screens on August 5 and got off to a good start. Over the first weekend, the biopic fared well and ended up grossing around Rs 28 crore nett. And now the film's total collection stands at Rs 34.25 crore nett which isn't bad at all considering Ms Chopra is the only established actor in Mary Kom. According to Boxofficeindia, "Mary Kom was steady on Tuesday showing a small drop from Monday but the weekday collections are down quite a bit from the weekend business.If Mary Kom can hold like Tuesday on the next two days it may reach the 40 crore nett mark for the first week business." While Omung Kumar's directorial project has done good business at the ticket windows, in the coming days, things could get tough for Mary Kom since Deepika Padukone and Arjun Kapoor's quirky comedy Finding Fanny is releasing tomorrow.
