Director Jagan Shakti's Mission Mangal has turned out to be a game-changer for Khiladi Akshay Kumar. The space drama has raked in Rs 97.56 crore in its extended opening weekend and emerged as the highest weekend grosser of Akshay Kumar at the box office. The film is all set to enter the Rs 100 crore club today and will become this year's 10th film to achieve this feat after Uri, Manikarnika, Gully Boy, Bharat, Kabir Singh, De De Pyaar De, Kesari, Total Dhamaal and Super 30.
In the ensemble cast, actor Sharman Joshi also plays a key role. Talking about the film he said, "We put a lot of effort into making this film and we always hoped the audience would love it because we loved it while making it. The reaction has been overwhelming so far and it's only been one day yet. The entire cast is thrilled with the response and we hope people will remember this movie for the longest of time." Mission Mangal stars Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Nithya Menen along with Sharman Joshi. The film is based on ISRO's Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), made possible by a primarily all-woman team of scientists in 2013.
Talking about the reviews, our critic Urmimala Banerjee has give the film 3 stars and wrote, "Mission Mangal's prime strength lies in the crisp narrative and superlative performances. Vidya Balan is absolutely brilliant throughout the film whether she is talking of a power beyond science or when she tells her husband that as a mom she is equally clued in as she is as a scientist. Akshay Kumar delivers the good and has the best one-liners. Dalip Tahil as the cynical top boss is terrific. Sonakshi Sinha nails her role as the ambitious Eka Gandhi. She is fab. Kirti Kulhari and Nithya Menen are in top form as well."
