There is no salvaging this film now...
Rustom and Mohenjo Daro's clash was bound to appreciate one and annihilate the other. Yes, there have been instances where both the films at the box office have made quite a lot of money but this collision was bound to leave one of them badly bruised. And it was Hrithik Roshan's film which took the beating here. His love story set in our oldest human civilisation failed to appeal to anyone and hence, the film has only slumped after posting a decent opening weekend collection. In its second weekend at the box office, the film has earned a meagre 3. 88 cr taking the total to 55. 06 cr.

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures saying, "#MohenjoDaro crashes in Weekend 2... [Week 2] Fri 1.05 cr, Sat 1.28 cr, Sun 1.55 cr. Weekend 2: ₹ 3.88 cr. Total: ₹ 55.06 cr. India biz." It struggled to reach the 50 crore mark in the domestic circuit which it reached on Friday last. And in its second weekend, it further dipped. It really says a lot about what people expected and what it offered. The film could have been a great period drama, kickstarting a forgotten trend but unfortunately, its debacle will further distance filmmakers from attempting a film set in bygone era.

But interestingly, Mohenjo Daro did remarkably well overseas. Taran Adarsh gave out the figures saying, "#MohenjoDaro has fared better internationally... Week 1 expected to close at $ 3.6 million [₹ 24.13 cr]... Best in UAE-GCC and Pakistan." Recent tabulation of collections, as shared by Adarsh, look good too. He writes, "#MohenjoDaro - OVERSEAS - Total after Weekend 2: $ 3.9 million [₹ 26.20 cr]. Some markets yet to report... Best in UAE + GCC and Pakistan." It is clear that the film managed good total overseas. Some respite there.
