Rajkummar Rao's Newton remained rock solid at the box office on day 6, as it raked in another Rs 1.18 crore at the domestic market. The film has now earned Rs 10.73 crore in six days and while this is not a huge number, considering the size of release and the low buzz surrounding the movie, Newton has performed exceptionally well. Talking about the current trend and the detailed breakdown of collections, trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed on Twitter, "#Newton is ROCK-STEADY. Fri Rs 96 lakhs, Sat Rs 2.52 crore, Sun Rs 3.42 crore, Mon Rs 1.31 crore, Tue Rs 1.34 crore, Wed Rs 1.18 crore. Total: Rs 10.73 crore. India biz."
Looking at the breakdown, it is clear that Newton had started off slow at the box office on day one. However, with fantastic content and rave reviews, the film witnessed a phenomenal word-of-mouth publicity. In fact, people are praising the movie on social media even now. This, in turn, has helped the movie grow and sustain at the box office. Seeing the huge demand for the movie, several multiplexes even increased the number of shows for the film and by the looks of it, Newton will sustain well till the end of the second week. In its lifetime run, the movie should easily make around Rs 20-25 crore at the domestic box office. By the end of its run, the makers of Newton will have earned a considerable amount of profit. But the icing on the cake is surely Newton's selection as India's official entry for Oscars 2017.
