Rajkummar Rao and Pankaj Tripathi's Newton continued its magical run at the box office and ended week one on a high. The film added another Rs 1.10 crore on day 7, to take its overall tally to Rs 11.83 crore at the domestic box office. Talking about the detailed breakdown of the first week's collection, trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed on Twitter, "#Newton Fri Rs 96 lakhs, Sat Rs 2.52 crore, Sun Rs 3.42 crore, Mon Rs 1.31 crore, Tue Rs 1.34 crore, Wed Rs 1.18 crore, Thu Rs 1.10 crore. Total: Rs 11.83 crore. India biz."
Newton has performed so well courtesy the engaging content, great performances, and strong message. Everyone - from the critics to the public - has been praising the movie. Our film critic - Sreeju Sudhakaran couldn't stop gushing about the movie too, as he mentioned in his review, "Newton is one of the best-made satires in Bollywood, especially since it is a genre that is nearly dying in Indian cinema. It shows us a stark portrayal of democracy. Though it is not exactly mainstream in its sensibilities, there are enough moments to laugh with the characters, and sometimes at our own selves. Brilliantly enacted, well-written and smartly directed, Newton is a must-watch if you have a craving for good cinema." With the film continuing to hold strong at the screens and a fantastic word-of-mouth publicity still flowing for the film, we are sure Newton will perform decently over the second weekend. With Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu's Judwaa 2 taking over the box office today (September 29), Newton will be affected. But we are sure it will still collect around about Rs 20 - 25 crore by the end of its lifetime run at the domestic box office.
