Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu starrer October continues to remain stable in its second week at the box office. Despite being a niche film, the drama has managed to perform decently well at the ticket windows. It raked in Rs 70 lakhs yesterday and now stands with the grand total of Rs 41.83 crore. Since new releases Beyond The Clouds and Nanu Ki Janu failed to perform at the box office, October remained the first choice for the moviegoers.
Apart from the domestic market, the film has also performed well in the international markets. As Avengers: Infinity War is releasing tomorrow, October will be out from almost all the screens at the box office. The film has turned out to be a profitable affair for its makers because of its tight budget, smart marketing and pre-release deals. It is directed by Shoojit Sircar, who previously helmed films like Piku, Vicky Donor and Madras Cafe.
On its opening day, the film received a lukewarm response at the box office but later it picked up and gathered momentum thanks to the positive word of mouth among the audience. Our critic Ankita Chaurasia also liked the film and gave three and a half stars and wrote, "If you while away your time reading poetries, thinking about soulmates, finding the meaning of your existence in sunsets, comparing life to flowers, and questioning your place in the universe – October will certainly be worth your while." She also praised Varun's performance by writing, " Varun is subdued to the point of being unrecognisable in the film. He is a study in innocence. Don’t be surprised if you find girls around you squealing in delight at his naivete."
