Varun Dhawan's October is one of his most difficult and intriguing films yet. After delivering two back to back hits like Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Judwaa 2, the actor explored this unconventional tale of unconditional love. And while the film is one of the best ones we've watched, October hasn't been able to set the box office on fire. The film opened to a decent collection of Rs 5.04 crore on day 1 at the domestic box office, however it is not what a typical Varun Dhawan film would open to! In fact, if you compare all of Varun's box office openings till date, you will realise that October is his lowest opener now. Currently, Judwaa 2 (Rs 16.10 crore) is his highest opener, followed by ABCD 2 (Rs 14.3o crore), Badrinath Ki Dulhania (Rs 12.25 crore), Dishoom (Rs 11.05 crore), Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (Rs 9.02 crore), Student of the Year (Rs 7.48 crore), Badlapur (Rs 7 crore), Main Tera Hero (Rs. 6.60 crore) and now, October (Rs 5.04 crore). However, the actor has nothing to worry and we tell you why.
Firstly, October is an unconventional film with a a niche subject that would not appeal to a large audience, which generally prefers masala entertainers. Secondly, films like October always depend on word of mouth publicity. After watching the film, people generally tend to rave about such performance oriented movies, which in turn compells other people to watch it and helps it grow over the next few days in terms of footfalls and collections. In October's case too, the film has developed a trememdous word of mouth publicity and we are sure it will grow over the weekend and post a decent total. Third, October is one of Varun's best reviewed films till date. From the audience to the critics, everyone has been raving about the movie and calling it his best performance till date. We also cannot discount the fact that the film was released in a very limited screen space. So quite clearly, Varun has nothing to worry! Though he might not have got a record breaking opening at the box office, he has won a lot of hearts. The actor always says he wants to entertaim and that's what he is doing. Surely October will be one of the most profitable films of the year and with so much love, Varun Dhawan will surely be happy.
