Akshay Kumar and Radhika Apte's Pad Man's failed to witness massive growth in its second weekend at the box office. Due to its unconventional and unusal plot, the film has got limited appeal of audience. The biographical social drama raked in Rs 3.78 crore and now stands with the grand total of Rs 71.90 crore.
By looking at the current trend, it is clear that the film will not enter the Rs 100 crore club at the ticket window. Pad Man has turned out to be Akshay Kumar's lowest grosser in the last three years. Talking about the film, it is based on the life of Tamil Nadu-based social activist, Arunachalam Muruganantham. Akshay Kumar portrays the central role in the film, who finds a way to make cheap, affordable sanitary napkins for the women in his village. Despite receiving rave reviews and having the star power of Akshay Kumar, the film underperformed at the ticket window.
Pad Man is directed by R Balki and also stars Sonam Kapoor in a key role. The film has managed to perform decently well in the multiplexes and metro cities but in tier 2 and tier 3 centres, the collections are way below the mark. The film is is produced under the banners of Columbia Pictures, Hope Productions, KriArj Entertainment and Mrs Funnybones Movies. The film is currently playing in very less screens and facing stiff competition from Aiyaary and Hollywood film Black Panther and holdover release Padmaavat Anyway, did you like the movie?
