Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone starrer Padmaavat continues to achieve new milestones at the worldwide box office. Despite completing one month at the ticket window, the costume drama has managed to remain rock-steady which is truly commendable. Till now the film has approximately collected Rs 565 crore and is currently seventh highest worldwide grosser of all time after Dangal, Baahubali 2, Secret Superstar, PK, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan. Padmaavat has beaten biggies like Tiger Zinda Hai and Dhoom 3 to achieve this feat at the global market.
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film also features Anupriya Goenka, Jim Sarbh, Aditi Rao Hydari and Raza Murad in pivotal roles. The film is produced under the banners of Sanjay Leela Bhansali productions and Viacom 18. The film is based on 16th-century poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s poem Padmavat. The story of Padmaavat revolves around menacing Sultan of Delhi Alauddin Khilji, who wishes to conquer the queen of Chittorgarh Rani Padmavati. Despite facing stiff competition from Akshay Kumar’s Pad Man and Sidharth Malhotra – Manoj Bajpayee’s Aiyaary along with Hollywood release Black Panther, the magnum opus has managed to attract the audience to the cinema halls.
Talking about the film’s success, Ranveer Singh had earlier said, “I am enjoying it. I don’t get too carried away with success and neither do I get bogged down by the failure. What’s important for me is that you deliver on your promise to the audience.” He further added, “I have pledged myself to try and be the best entertainer that I can possibly be and to see the kind of response, love, praise that people are showering on the performance, it’s extremely heartening for me and it’s filled me with more motivation to go out and work even harder and keep doing good work.”
