After crossing the Rs 100 crore mark worldwide, Piku may soon achieve the same feat at the domestic box office...
May has turned out to be an exceptional month for Bollywood and all movie buffs. This month, three films have got cash registers jingling - Akshay Kumar's Gabbar Is Back, Deepika Padukone-Amitabh Bachchan-Irrfan Khan starrer Piku and recently released Tanu Weds Manu Returns featuring Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan. While Akki's action film is inching towards the Rs 100 crore club domestically, Kangana starrer has already collected Rs 47.05 crore at the box office in just four days. As for Piku. well, the family drama which released on May 15 also managed to pull in crowd to the cinema halls big time. The film has already raked in Rs 72.64 crore at the Indian box office and is still going steady at the ticket windows.

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the updated figures a while back. He wrote on the popular social networking site Twitter, "#Piku [Week 3] Fri 1.35 cr, Sat 2.40 cr, Sun 2.75 cr, Mon 92 lacs. Grand total - 72.64 cr. India biz. SUPER HIT."

Till now Dippy and Big B starrer has collected Rs 34.09 crore overseas which is mighty impressive. Adarsh had tweeted yesterday,"#Piku Overseas total: $ 5.36 million [34.09 cr]. Worldwide total [India + Overseas] crossed 100 cr. FANTASTIC."
The trade portal pointed out, "The film looks on course for an 80 crore nett total and maybe even a chance to go past the 81 crore nett plus of Baby though has little chance of beating highest grosser so far this year Gabbar Is Back."
