After witnessing a substantial growth over the weekend, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal starrer Raazi witnessed a downward trend on its first Monday at the box office. The dip is more than 50 per cent compare to its Sunday business and two of the primary reasons behind that is the low ticket prices during the weekdays and decrease in footfalls. The spy-thriller raked in Rs 6.30 crore yesterday and now stands with the grand total of Rs 39.24 crore.
By looking at the current scenario, we are expecting the film to earn around Rs 55 crore by the end of its opening week at the ticket windows. Despite not being a masala entertainer film, Raazi has surpassed all the expectations at the box office due to its reasonable budget and pan India acceptance. In the coming days, it will cross the lifetime business of Bollywood movies like October, Hichki and others. Raazi will the surpass the collections of Shaandaar (Rs 43 crore) today at the ticket windows.
The film's story is set against the backdrop of the Indo-Pak war in 1971, where an Indian girl (played by Alia Bhatt) marries a Pakistani Army officer (Vicky Kaushal) to spy for her country. Based on 'Calling Sehmat,' a best-selling book by Harinder Sikka, the film is directed by Meghna Gulzar. The film also stars Shishir Sharma, Rajit Kapoor, Soni Razdan, Jaideep Ahlawat and Amruta Khanvilkar in pivotal roles. It is produced under the banners of Dharma Productions and Junglee Pictures.
