Alia Bhatt's Raazi has turned out to be a huge money-spinner for its makers. In just 3 days, it turned out to be a hit at the box office. Interestingly, with the business of Rs 32.94 crore, the period spy-thriller has surpassed the business of Highway, which had collected Rs 30.61 crore in its theatrical. Imtiaz Ali's Highway, which featured Alia along with Randeep Hooda, gave the young actress a great identity as the powerhouse of talent. Since Raazi has garnered rave reviews from the movie buffs and critics, we are expecting the film to remain stable at the box office.
The film will soon surpass the collections of Shaandaar (Rs 43 crore) and if it holds well in the second week, it might cross Udta Punjab's business (Rs 60 crore) at the ticket windows. Directed by Talvar helmer Meghna Gulzar, the film also stars Rajit Kapoor, Soni Razdan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Shishir Sharma and Amruta Khanvilkar in key roles. The film is produced under the banners of Dharma Productions and Junglee Pictures.
Actor Jaideep Ahlawat, who plays a pivotal character in the film said, “Raazi explores a very interesting political phase before the 1971 war. The story was worth telling because it captures the relationship between three countries – India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, which was going through a turmoil then.” He further explained that Raazi is not a war film, “The film is about the war, but does not show the war. The story of the film revolves around the strategy making phase that both the countries (India and Pakistan) went through before the war started. If we look at any war in the world history, once the war starts, it’s all about firing and death. But the most interesting phase is the preparation, that is why I found the story interesting.”
