Despite facing stiff competition from Tiger Shroff's Baaghi 2 and Rani Mukerji's Hichki, director Rajkumar Gupta's Raid has managed to hold well in its third weekend at the box office. The period crime thriller raked in Rs 2.78 crore yesterday and now stands with the grand total of Rs 96.97 crore. It is all set to enter the elite Rs 100 crore by the end of its third week at the box office.
Raid will soon turn out to be Ajay Devgn's eighth Rs 100 crore film after Golmaal Again, Singham Returns, Golmaal 3, Son Of Sardaar, Bol Bachchan, Singham and Shivaay. On the other hand, Ileana will achieve this feat for the third time after Barfii and Rustom. Apart from the lead cast, the film also stars Sulagna Panigrahi and Saurabh Shukla in key roles. It is currently the third highest grosser of the year after Padmaavat and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety.
Made on the budget of Rs 45 crore including promotion and advertising, the film has turned out to be a hit at the ticket window. Raid is based on true events which occurred in Uttar Pradesh and has been inspired by real-life Income Tax raids which were held by Indian Revenue Services back in the ’80s and 90’s. Anyway, do you think Raid will beat Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety to become the second highest grosser of the year? Share your thoughts in the comment section below...
