Rajinikanth's Kaala Karikaalan is one of the most exciting releases of the year, however looks like it has run into some major trouble. Reports suggest that the movie has apparently been banned in Karnataka after Rajinikanth took a controversial stand which was against the state during the Cauvery issue. But looks like Rajinikanth is still clueless about exactly why the film has been banned in the state! While talking to the media before leaving for Tuticorin, when he was asked about the ban, the superstar replied, "I don't know the reason for that (film being banned). I only came to know about it yesterday." However, he did mention how he hopes that the South Indian Film Chamber will step in and take all the necessary steps in the matter and help him release Kaala in Karnataka.
For those of you who don't know, during the ongoing Cauvery issue, Rajinikanth had mentioned, "Centre will face Tamil Nadu wrath if it fails to set up CMB (Cauvery Management Board) plunge." This did not go down well with the people of Karnataka and hence, the Karanataka Film Chambers of Commerce (KFCC) has decided to ban the movie. The President of the KFCC, G. Parameshwara, mentioned to the media, "As an actor, he always handled issues on Cauvery in a diplomatic way. But when he entered politics and formed a party, he made a direct attack on us, which has not gone down well with Karnataka. It is a question of our prestige and we want to keep our word. We will not allow his film to be released here." (ALSO READ - Rajinikanth's Kaala will be banned in Karnataka and the superstar is to blame)
A few fringe groups and the KFCC have asked Rajinikanth to apologise and take back his words. What will happen next - will Rajinikanth apologise or will he stand by his words and let Kaala be banned in Karnataka? Well time will only tell.
