Rani Mukerji's Hichki has opened well at the box office on day one. After raking Rs 3.30 crore on the opening day, Hichki has not only exceeded everyone's expectations, but also become the second highest box office opener for a women centric film in the last two years. If you take a look at the opening day collections of all the women centric films of the past two years, you will realise that Rani Mukerji's Hichki (Rs 3.30 crore) has only failed to beat Vidya Balan's Begum Jaan. As trade analyst Taran Adarsh pointed out on Twitter, "Heroine-centric movies and Day 1 biz. Note: Diverse genres. Varying screen count. India biz. #Hichki Day 1: Rs 3.30 crore. #TumhariSulu Day 1: Rs 2.87 crore. #Mom Day 1: Rs 2.90 crore. #Simran Day 1: Rs 2.77 crore. #BegumJaan Day 1: Rs 3.94 crore."
In fact, with a lower buzz and lesser screen space than all of these other women centric films, we feel Hichki has outperformed each of these movies. All this has obviously been possible courtesy the fantastic storyline, the engaging screenplay and tremendous performances by all the actors associated with the movie. The amazing reviews given by the critics as well as the audience has also enabled Hichki to earn such a decent amount of money at the box office. In fact, with the film continuing to grow and raking in the moolah, we expect Hichki to collect in excess of Rs 10 crore at the box office. But will it be able to give the other women centric film competition over the first weekend? Can Hichki emerge as the highest opening weekend grosser for a women oriented film? That's something to wait and watch out for. Anyway, what did you guys have to say the movie? Share with us your review in the comments section below!
