Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor's Padmaavat is finally releasing on January 24 (paid previews) after tons of controversies and protests. The advance bookings for the film have finally opened for 3D and Imax 3D shows on January 24 and 2D shows on January 25. And looks like it has started off with a bang. According to our trade expert - Akshaye Rathi (exhibitor and distributor), Padmaavat has opened to tremendous advance bookings across India. As Akshaye revealed to us exclusively, "After the Supreme Court's decision to lift the ban in Rajasthan and the other states, the advance bookings have started off tremendously. The buzz and the bookings have been unprecedented till now and I am sure, Padmaavat will open very well. Even though the protests continue, I am sure legitimate businesses will screen the film and will have enough security to ensure smooth screening of the film."
According to Akshaye, Padmaavat will have a fantastic opening on day one, collecting nearly Rs 25 - 30 crore, even though it will be a working day. All this has been possible courtesy the huge buzz surrounding the movie and the large screen space that Padmaavat has get. Releasing in 2D, 3D, Imax 3D, Tamil and Telugu; we are sure that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period film will get more than 4000 screens across India. But will it be the widest release ever? In the meantime, the protests against Padmaavat continue to escalate. 200 Rajput women have threatened to commit jauhar if the film releases. The Karni Sena has also called for a nationwide ban.
