Yes, that happened!
Clashes are never healthy at the box office. Films eat into each other's business and make things difficult for others. We have seen instances when one biggie made it difficult for the other film to cash in big moolah. It will be wrong to say that clashes don't harm each other. They do because screens get divided and audiences too. The last releases of 2015 Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale also went through the same fix. Shah Rukh Khan's film started off really well but with its Monday collections lesser than Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh's magnum opus, it clearly shows the film has affected the other's run. While BM pocketed 10.25 cr on Monday, Dilwale made Rs. 10.09 cr only!
Shah Rukh Khan's entertainer opened hugely and brought home good numbers on its first day at 21 cr. Bajirao Mastani earned 12.08 cr on its day of releases. There was a considerable gap between the two. Dilwale witnessed a drop next day itself with Saturday at 20.09 while BM saw an upward swing with 15.05 cr. Sunday however earned amply for both as Dilwale earned 24 cr and Bajirao Mastani took home Rs. 18.45 cr. But Monday generally becomes a decisive factor and it seems BM has emerged a favourite here. With 10.25 cr compared to Dilwale's 10.09, the race is going neck to neck. Although the total collection of Dilwale (75.18 cr) is higher than BM (57.02), it definitely shows who is getting favoured more on the weekdays.
Trade Analyst, Taran Adarsh, gave out the figures on Twitter saying,
He then moved on to make an interesting comment on what could happen in the coming days:
We totally agree with him. Things are getting really interesting with BM moving ahead of Dilwale!
