Roy box office collection: Ranbir Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez and Arjun Rampal's romantic thriller mints Rs 21.56 crore!

Vikramjit Singh's directorial debut Roy starring Ranbir Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez and Arjun Rampal released on Friday and got off to a good start. Though the film received lukewarm response from the critics, Roy ended up collecting Rs 10.40 crore on day 1. And thus becoming the biggest opener of 2015 till date. On day 2 (Saturday) the romantic thriller continued to pull in crowd to the cinema halls as it raked in Rs 11.16 crore. So as of now the total domestic box office collection of Singh's venture stands at Rs 21.56 crore which is impressive.

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on the popular social networking site Twitter a while back, "#Roy Fri 10.40 cr, Sat 11.16 cr. Total: ₹ 21.56 cr. India biz." Well, if Roy sustains its good run at the box office then it won't be long before it surpasses the Rs 50 crore mark.

While Friday and Saturday proved to be good for Roy, a lot will depend on Sunday collections. With India-Pakistan match taking place, I am pretty sure the morning and afternoon shows will suffer. However, the evening shows may witness good occupancy as the India vs Pakistan match will get over by 3 PM.
