These films passed the litmus test with flying colors...
Every person in or outside Bollywood judges a film by its collection. But gone are the days when the Friday collections or the weekend collections mattered. Now-a-days, Monday is the real litmus test. If a film does well on the first Monday, it will have a good first week and hence a better lifetime run. However, not all films survive on day 4. We have seen many films in 2016 itself that have seen a massive dip on the first Monday. However, there have been a few films that have done well on the fourth day too. Don't believe us? Here are five instances from 2016 itself:
# Rustom First Monday collection: Rs 17.81 crore
Akshay Kumar's latest release has been liked and appreciated by one and all. It got a decent start at the box office and even collected Rs 50 crore in 3 days, however even as the first Monday approached, the film remained strong and collected a fabulous a Rs 17.81 crore. While many may argue that the film benefited from the Independence day holiday, it definitely boosted the collection nonetheless.
First Monday collection: Rs 15.54 crore
Salman Khan's Sultan was the BIGGEST film of 2016. All the hype around the film was justified and people loved the film when it was released. In fact, it broke several records over the five day weekend that it enjoyed and even after that, there was no stopping it. The film continued its run on day 6 and collected a tremendous Rs 15.54 crore on the first Monday (non-holiday).
First Monday collection: Rs 10.40 crore
Akshay Kumar's Republic Day release was one of the best films of the year. It inspired many people and even after it had a fabulous first weekend, it continued its golden run over quite a few weeks. But it couldn't have been possible if it hadn't passed the Monday litmus test. It collected Rs 10.40 crore on day 4 of its run and continued to build a good word of mouth which helped the film collect more than Rs 120 crore over its lifetime run.

First Monday collection: Rs 10.36 crore
Hrithik Roshan's film might not have had a great start at the box office, it had a very good first Monday. Though it was an Independence day holiday, this is still a very good number that the film has managed, which will in turn help its lifetime collections.
# Housefull 3
First Monday collection: Rs 8.25 crore
Akshay Kumar's comedy film was loved by one and all not only for its story, but the jokes, the characters and the music. Again, as all the other films, it had a great start at the box office and even though it saw a slight dip on the first Monday, it stood tall and collected Rs 8.25 crore on day 4.
