Ever since the first schedule of Brahmastra got over and the Sanju teaser was released, everyone has been saying how Ranbir Kapoor is back with a bang. He has been the talk of the town these days. From his fantastic portrayal of Sanjay Dutt to his love life, everything is being spoken about. However, that's not it! RK also announced two huge films - YRF's Shamshera and an untitled film with Ajay Devgn and Luv Ranjan recently. With that Ranbir has an impressive line-up of films including Sanju, Brahmastra, Shamshera and the film with Ajay Devgn. But how do these films look? Will they help RK's career? And do we see a shift in Ranbir's audience and stardom? To answer all these questions, we rang up our trade expert - Amul Vikas Mohan and here's what he had to say!
Talking about Ranbir Kapoor's recent announcements and his impressive line up of films, Amul said, "Ranbir has made a lot of announcements recently and it is very good for him. He was quiet about his future projects till a while ago. So this was bound to happen because now he is finished with Sanju, which had taken a big chunk of his time and dates. It was a commitment driven film and he had to have different looks and different types of body structures and so on and so forth. So this is the best time for him to start announcing all his films and put out his whole slate for the next few years. According to me, Ranbir now has three massive films to look forward to, starting with Brahmastra, Shamshera and then the untitled film with Ajay Devgn. These are three big films with three huge and different directors. So it is a good phase in his career and it is perfect to follow up with such films after a Rajkumar Hirani film." But how will each film help Ranbir's career graph? Amul revealed to us exclusively, "The first film that will help his career grow and expand is Sanju because that's the one which is releasing first. He has also shot for one schedule of Brahmastra and the shooting will resume for that shortly. Then he gets into Shamshera and gets into the Luv Ranjan film mid next year. Given the kind of timeline, it is important to see how he is spacing all these films out. All of these movies are different in kind of appeal and stature. Luv Ranjan's film can be a comedy, as we know that the filmmaker like to make comedies in terms of genre. Brahmastra is this huge epic drama and Shamshera is also giving us similar vibes. So all of them are different in their aspect and I feel they can enhance Ranbir's career in different ways. All of them are big commercial films. So he is not doing what he did in the past, which is doing a slightly lower stature film or doing an odd film in between two commercial films. All three of these are commercial films and this is clearly a statement of intent that he wants to do commercial films too. All these three films tick all the boxes for me and it will add a lot of value to his career." (ALSO READ - Will Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor get married? Here's what their horoscope predicts)
With his line up of films, RK is also proving to us that he is exploring the commercial, mass audience centric films. However, Amul feels that he will not only attract the class or mass audience, but an even bigger universal audience with his upcoming films. As Amul added, "Ranbir is a superstar and if the audience is class or mass doesn't really matter. Sanju is a universal film and the response to the teaser alone proved how big the film is. Having said that, I feel when the trailers or teasers of either of his upcoming films come out, the audience will gravitate towards the films. Right now, on paper, all three films looks like big, commercial, mass films and they will be mounted on a large scale. So it is a healthy situation for Ranbir Kapoor."
