Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani's Kabir Singh has turned out to be the second blockbuster of the year after Vicky Kaushal's Uri: The Surgical Strike. In just 5 days, the film has entered the Rs 100 crore club and has beaten biggies like Kesari, Total Dhamaal, Gully Boy and De De Pyaar De to become the second fastest entrant to Rs 100 crore club after Salman Khan's Bharat. The intense love story has also performed decently well in the overseas markets as it raked in Rs 12 crore there. So, with the grand total of Rs 131.12 crore (nett Rs 104.90 crore), Kabir Singh now stands with the grand total of Rs 143.12 crore at the global box office and will enter the Rs 150 crore club today.

Kabir Singh has turned out to be the biggest opening weekend grosser of Shahid Kapoor's career and also his solo highest grosser of all-time. As per Shahid Kapoor, the film has a unique approach, which attracted him towards it. "It's what attracted me to the film in the first place. I believe there is a Kabir Singh inside everyone. That's why people can relate to him so easily."

The film narrates the story of Kabir (Shahid), a young final year medical student who falls in love with Preeti, his junior in college. Kiara essays the role of a simple college girl Preeti in the film. Kabir Singh is a remake of the popular Telugu movie Arjun Reddy that originally starred Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani, Krishan Kumar and Ashwin Varde, the film is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
