Anurag Kashyap's dream project Bombay Velvet starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar is being touted as a technical masterpiece but sadly that's not enough to get cash registers jingling. The period drama which released last Friday has so far grossed only Rs 16.10 crore at the Indian box office. Considering the film hasn't managed to pull in crowd to the cinema halls, it won't be long before Bombay Velvet goes out of most theatres. But here's a piece of information we bet you didn't know. This big budget film has incurred approximately Rs 90 crore loss. Now that's indeed a whopping amount, hai na?

Well, we got this info from our source who further said that it won't be an exaggeration to call BV the biggest dud of all time. Industry insiders quote Rs 120 crore as the amount the film was made on. Going by this figure, BV is easily one of the biggest duds of recent times.

What's even more shocking is that the trade experts predict the lifetime collection of Ranbir and Anushka's film won't go beyond Rs 25 crore. Well, that's no good news for anyone associated with this flick. Interestingly, Jr Kapoor's last release Besharam which was panned left, right and center was directed by Anurag's brother Abhinav Kashyap. While Besharam failed despite being an out-an-out masala entertainer due to its poor execution, this time its the story which didn't work with the audience.

While RK and Ms Sharma have big banner films coming up, its the director Anurag Kashyap who needs to do some thinking before taking up his next project!
