Suriya starrer Singam 3, after being postponed thrice, finally hit the screens on February 9 and earned a staggering Rs 20 crore, suggests box office reports. The figures are huge considering it released on a working day and not a holiday. The opening day figures are more than Vijay's Bairavaa, which reportedly collected more than Rs 17 crore on its first day. Singam 3 was always expected to open big as Singam 2 too opened strong and went on to do more than Rs 100 crore at the domestic box office and was one of the highest grossing films of that year.
The numbers are also huge considering, a piracy webiste was planning to live stream the film. As per an article written by Sreedhar Pillai, he stated, "Tamil rockers, a piracy website is planning to live-stream Singam 3 on the day of its release at 11am. This website had the audacity to tweet out this news. #MarkYourCalender February 9th is not your day our day.. #TamilRockers." As per the same article, here’s what Gnanavel Raja had stated at the audio launch of Yaman,” “The way pirates are operating in Kollywood, it is eating into the box-office collections. While producers are unsure about financial clearance, b****** Tamilrockers are confidently saying that they will release the pirated print of Si-3 at the said time." Also read: Shocking!
