Student of the Year 2 starring Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria fell marginally short of the Rs 50 crore mark on its fifth day at the box office. The film opened with Rs 12.06 crore and raked in Rs 33.83 crore over the weekend. The glamorous campus drama added another Rs 5.52 crore on Monday and with Rs 5.02 crore on Tuesday, the film now stands at the grand total of Rs 49.37 crore.
Student of the Year 2 received mixed reviews from critics, but seems like the audience is enjoying the high school drama. The film showcases a love triangle with Tiger Shroff following his lady love Tara Sutaria to the prestigious St Teresa's College, and eventually falling in love with Ananya Panday. It is a usual musical with issues like class divide, rivalry, competitions and so on.
Directed by Punit Malhotra, Student of the Year 2 is produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. BollywoodLife reviewer, Urmimala Banerjee, said that Tiger Shroff unveils a new side of him in SOTY 2 and wrote,"You will see a new side of Tiger that is quite refreshing. Tara Sutaria is gorgeous and expressive. Coming to Ananya Panday, she has some of the best punchlines in the film and displays a comic flair that would make dad Chunky Panday proud. Aditya Seal pulls off his role as the egoistic, condescending and aggressive Manav effortlessly. He is a sheer joy to watch. YouTube star Harsh Beniwal and Abhishek Bajaj also do well. The music is the second biggest highlight of the film. The songs are placed nicely in the narrative and make for good listening".
