With several big movies lined up for next year, everyone is announcing their release date during a festival period to maximise their profit. Be it Bollywood or South, we are going to see several films clash at the box office these various festival holidays in India. However, it is the Tamil film industry that has left us stunned. At least 7 films are set to clash during Pongal 2018 (January 14) and looks like the situation is not going to be good. In fact, the trade feels this is a very bad scenario for the industry as such a clash would affect the business. As popular trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai revealed on Twitter, "7 Tamil Movies have announced a #Pongal2018 Release. A ridiculous situation as everybody knows, maximum 3 films can release! #TSK #Sketch #BhaskarOruRascal #Gulaebaghavali #Kalakalappu2 #MannarVagaiyara #MaduraVeeran."
Suriya's Thaanaa Serndha Koottam, Vikram's Sketch, Arvind Swamy's Bhaskar Oru Rascal are three big films that are set to battle it out at the box office during Pongal 2018. Prabhu Deva's Gulebagavali, Jai's Kalakalappu 2, Prabhu's Mannar Vagaiyara and Vijayakanth's Madura Veeran are also set to hit the screens during this period.
