Ajay Devgn's recent blockbuster Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior will soon celebrate 50 days at the box office. The magnum opus has been enjoying a phenomenal run at the ticket windows for over 45 days despite facing competition from many notable Bollywood and Hollywood releases. It currently stands with the grand total of around Rs 277.20 crore and maximum contribution in these collections are from the Mumbai circuit as the film has raked in Rs 142 crore from this region, which more than 50 per cent of the total.
It has grabbed the second spot among the top Mumbai circuit grossers after Baahubali: The Conclusion, which collected around Rs 186 crore in its theatrical run. Tanhaji has beaten films like Dangal, Tiger Zinda Hai, Sanju and PK to achieve this milestone at the box office. The magnum opus is currently the highest grosser of 2020 and we think Tiger Shroff's Baaghi has the chance to challenge this film at the ticket windows.
The historical drama also stars Sharad Kelkar, Luke Kenny, Neha Sharma and Devdutta Nage in key roles. The period drama is based on the life of Maratha warrior Tanaji Malusare, who was a trusted military leader of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Tanhaji is Ajay Devgn's 100th film. "I have been lucky to be doing different kinds of roles and they have worked too because so many actors struggle to do different things. At that time nobody was doing a film like Raincoat'. I just wanted to try out different things, hence I did it. There was no fear of whether it will work or not. I am glad my risk paid off. A lot of people advised me against such films but today almost everyone is doing such films and they are working," Ajay said.
