Last year it was Queen and this year its Kangana's Tanu Weds Manu Returns which has stormed Bollywood and box office...
I am pretty sure the whole team of Tanu Weds Manu Returns must be super thrilled. After all, their film has turned out to be the biggest blockbuster of this year. Yes, Aanand L Rai's directorial venture starring Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan has broken quite a few records and now it has also become the first film of 2015 to enter the coveted Rs 100 crore club. While Akshay Kumar's Gabbar Is Back and Deepika Padukone's Piku have also done good business at the ticket windows, Ms Ranaut's romantic comedy on the other hand has literally created hungama at the box office. And if the film continues to rock at the box office then it won't be long before the sequel of Tanu Weds Manu crosses the Rs 125 crore mark.
Total box office collection in India
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the updated figures a while back. He wrote on the popular social networking site Twitter, "#TanuWedsManuReturns [Week 2] Fri 6.65 cr, Sat 9.40 cr, Sun 12.25 cr, Mon 5.20 cr. Grand total - 103.47 cr. India biz. BLOCKBUSTER." Adarsh also tweeted,"#TanuWedsManuReturns crosses 100 cr in India. Emerges the HIGHEST GROSSER of 2015 + BIGGEST HIT of 2015 [so far]. Note: Hindi films."
The trade portal reported, "Tanu Weds Manu Returns had a super strong second Monday and has now grossed 102 crore nett in eleven days. The second week will finish around the 45 crore nett mark which would be better than the first week collections of all films released this year apart from the two Akshay Kumar starrers Gabbar Is Back and Baby."
