The curly-haired babe's latest outing is turning out to be one of the biggest blockbusters of this year...
That Kangana Ranaut is one of the finest actors in Bollywood today is no news. But this pretty lady has become a crowd puller as well. She surely doesn't need a Khan to get cash registers jingling. And her latest film Tanu Weds Manu Returns is testimony to that fact. The romantic comedy directed by Aanand L Rai co-starring R Madhavan hit the screens last Friday and since then it has literally created dhoom at the ticket windows. While Tanu Weds Manu which released in 2011 had also fared well, the sequel is doing exceptionally well not just in India but abroad as well. Now that's what you call packing a solid punch, hai na?
Total box office collection in India
Tanu Weds Manu Returns has been running in the theatres for a week now but it is already inching towards Rs 100 crore club domestically. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the updated figures a while back. He wrote on Twitter, "#TanuWedsManuReturns Fri 8.85 cr, Sat 13.20 cr, Sun 16.10 cr, Mon 8.90 cr, Tue 8.20 cr, Wed 7.70 cr, Thu 7.07 cr. Total - 70.02 cr." Adarsh also tweeted, "The unthinkable has happened! #TanuWedsManuReturns crosses 70 cr [India biz] in Week 1. Should cross 100 cr in Week 2...."
The trade portal stated, "The film is a blockbuster and just remains to be seen where the final business settles. It is assured to finish amongst the top twenty grossers ever and may even make it into the top fifteen. The film will be the highest grosser ever for a film costing less than 50 crore. The best at the moment are 2 States, Ek Villain and Grand Masti."
