Tanu Weds Manu Returns starring Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan has turned out to be the biggest grosser of this year. Directed by Aanand L Rai, the film hit the screens on May 22 and since it has been the hot topic of discussion everywhere. The romantic comedy has not only performed well in India but it has raked in big moolah overseas too. After getting too to great start, Kangana starrer ended up crossing the Rs 70 crore mark in first week itself. And then very recently it entered the coveted Rs 100 crore club in India. Well, its still pulling in crowd to the cinema halls so it won't be long before we see it reach the Rs 125 crore mark at the domestic BO.
Total box office collection in India
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the update figures a while back. He wrote on the popular social networking Twitter,"#TanuWedsManuReturns [Week 2] Fri 6.65 cr, Sat 9.40 cr, Sun 12.25 cr, Mon 5.15 cr, Tue 4.65 cr. Grand total - 108.17 cr. BLOCKBUSTER."
The trade portal reported, "Tanu Weds Manu Returns is doing unimaginable business with the film looking at the 225 crore mark Worldwide. The film is extraordinary in most of India and Overseas it is a similar story with the film looking to go to go to the $8 million mark. Till date the higest grosser Worldwide for a film costing less tha 50 crore is 2 States at 173 crore and Tanu Weds Manu Returns is on course to beat that by leaps and bounds. Most probably by a margin of 50 crore."
