Aditya Dhar's directorial starred Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal, Kirti Kulhari and Mohit Raina with Vicky Kaushal. The movie received tremendous threats with movies like Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt starrer 'Gully Boy', Ajay Devgn-Anil Kapoor-Madhuri Dixit starrer 'Total Dhamaal', Akshay Kumar-Parineeti Chopra starrer 'Kesari', Kangana Ranaut starrer 'Manikarnika', Amitabh Bachchan-Taapsee Pannu starrer 'Badla' and Kartik Aaryan-Kriti Sanon starrer 'Luka Chuppi'. However the movie remained strong in the theatres.
BollywoodLife's review applauded Vicky for his portrayal of the army man. The review read, "Right from trying to replicate an army officer’s behaviour to the action scenes in the second half where he is ruthless with those who killed his kin and others in the army, Vicky keeps you hooked. The actor also shows different facets of the character in the movie."
