Varun Dhawan is one of the most talented actors that we've seen over the last few years. Six years since he made his debut with Student of the Year, Varun has acted in 10 films and all of them have been hits. With such a great track record, he is one of the most bankable stars in the country right now. But what is the one thing that separates him from Sidharth Malhotra, Arjun Kapoor and the other gen next stars? Well, he is the only one who can easily pull off a niche, performance-oriented film like October after a masala-entertainer like Judwaa 2. Don't believe us? We'll give you a perfect explanation too!
Varun Dhawan, in his 10-film long career, has done two off-beat films - Badlapur and October. While both of them started off slowly and haven't set the box office on fire, the actor has been praised for his stellar act. The films, per se, weren't bad. In fact, they were brilliant, but the subject didn't appeal to the audience. And while Badlapur earned Rs 50 crore and October has raked in Rs 39.33 crore in 10 days, both the films have made profit courtesy their low budgets. Sidharth Malhotra, too, has two niche films (Ittefaq and Aiyaary) to his credit from the nine projects he has worked on. His track record at the box office has been poor over the past few years and only Ittefaq made its money from amongst his off beat releases. Meanwhile, Aiyaary was his biggest duds. In the meantime, while Arjun Kapoor has had some decent luck in the niche genre (Ishaqzaade, Finding Fanny, Ki & Ka), these movies haven't given him that much fame or acclaim, except for Ki & Ka. At the box office too, Varun Dhawan leads the way having raked in Rs 850 crore through ten films. Arjun Kapoor follows closely in the second place by collecting Rs 500 crore through nine films. Sidharth Malhotra follows closely after raking in Rs 470 crore through nine films. So clearly, Varun is the only gen-next star that can do any role and any kind of film. He is also leading the box office game. And with an interesting line up of films including Sui Dhaaga: Made In India, a dance film with Katrina Kaif, Kalank, Rannbhoomi and a few more, Varun's career looks enviable at the moment.
