Anees Bazmee's latest offering, Welcome Back which is a sequel to the hit 2009 Akshay Kumar - Katrina Kaif starrer, Welcome has managed to maintain its decent march at the box office. Starring John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Shruti Haasan, Nana Patekar and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles, the film failed to garner good reviews from critics. However, the light comedy seems to have impressed audiences quite a lot. The film raked in Rs 74.02 crore in one week at the domestic box office. This makes it the second highest week-one collector of 2015 after Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
The position was earlier held by Varun Dhawan's ABCD 2 which earned Rs 71.78 crore at the end of its first week and was then taken over by Sidharth Malhotra - Akshay Kumar's Brothers, which brought in Rs 72.60 crore in the same time span.
The film is said to have crossed the Rs 100-crore mark with its worldwide collection, though the exact figures aren't out yet. However, Welcome Back is expected to witness a setback in collections with the monstrous competition posed by Sooraj Pancholi - Athiya Shetty's debut film, Hero which hit screens today.
