Despite average reviews, the film is doing well at the box office
Anees Bazmee's latest offering, Welcome Back starring John Abraham, Shruti Haasan, Anil Kapoor, Nan Patekar and Paresh Rawal, might have not impressed critics, but it definitely has managed to woo audiences. The film which opened at 3200 screens, was off to a decent start pocketing Rs 14.35 crore on day 1 and showcasing an upward trend ever since. The film made a whooping Rs 17.05 crore on Day 2 and had an even better Day 3 with a collection of Rs 19.60 crore. This brings the total domestic collection of the film to Rs 51 crore.
Trade analyst and expert Taran Adarsh, shared the latest figures on his Twitter account. He tweeted, "#WelcomeBack packs a SOLID punch. Fri 14.35 cr, Sat 17.05 cr, Sun 19.60 cr. Total: Rs 51 cr. India biz. EXTRAORDINARY!"
It's not just the Indian audiences who have received the film well, the comic caper has been pulling crowds in Pakistan too. The film collected Rs 1.60 crore at the Pakistani box office and Rs 1.80 crore on Day 2. Though, the day-3 collections are not yet out, the film is touted to become the third biggest weekend opener for a Bollywood film in Pakistan.
While the film has received a warm response from the audience, it is likely to take a dip over the coming weekend as it has a really tough competition with Salman Khan's production venture, Hero starring debutants Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty, hitting screens this Friday.
