AMOL PALEKAR

Biography : Amol Palekar started his journey as a theatre actor (mostly Marathi theatre). He made his debut in cinema in 1971 with the Marathi film Shantata! Court Chalu Aahe directed by Satyadev Dubey. After three years, he was cast as the lead character in Basu Chatterjee’s Rajnigandha. He was starred in Chhoti Si Baat. He worked mostly with Chatterjee or Hrishikesh Mukherjee in movies such as Gol Maal and Naram Garam. He won the Filmfare Best Actor Award for Gol Maal. He has also acted in the the Malayalam movie Olangal. He turned to directing with the Marathi film Aakriet.
