Amrita Rao was born on June 7, 1981 in Chitrapur Saraswat Brahmin family of Mumbai. Since childhood, she was inclined towards films. Educated in Mumbai, Amrita did her graduation from Sophia College. Her elder sister Pratika Rao is a model. She started modeling from college days itself and got selected in the audition for Fairever Face Cream at Sophia College. After this, Amrita did advertisements for the products of companies like Perk and Bru, which opened the way for her in Bollywood. In the year 2002, Amrita Rao started her film career with the film “Ab Ke Baras”. And after this she started getting recognition from the 2003 film "Ishq-Vishq".
