ASIT SEN

Biography : Asit Sen, born on May 13, 1917, was an Indian film actor, director, and screenwriter. He was born in Kolkata, British India, and began his career in the film industry as an assistant director to renowned filmmaker Satyajit Ray. He made his acting debut in the 1952 film "Pather Panchali", and went on to appear in over 100 films, often in comedic roles. He also directed several films, including the 1957 comedy "Pyaasa Ghar" and the 1965 musical "Shatranj Ke Khiladi". Sen was a versatile actor who could portray a wide range of characters. He was known for his comic timing and his ability to bring a touch of humanity to even the most outlandish roles. He was also a gifted director, and his films are known for their sharp wit and social commentary. Sen's contributions to Indian cinema were recognized by the Government of India, which awarded him the Padma Shri in 1970 and the Padma Bhushan in 1992. He died in Kolkata in 1993 at the age of 76.
