AVINASH VYAS

Biography : Avinash Vyas was an Indian music composer, lyricist, and singer who is considered one of the pioneers of Gujarati film music. He was born in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, in 1912, and began his musical training under Ustad Allauddin Khan. He made his debut as a film music composer in 1943 with the Gujarati film Mahasati Ansuya. His first major hit came in 1948 with Gunsundari, a bilingual film in Gujarati and Hindi. Vyas composed music for over 190 Gujarati films, and his songs are still popular today. He was a recipient of the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in India, and the Gujarat State Film Award for best lyricist and best music 25 times. He died in 1984, but his legacy continues to inspire musicians and audiences alike. Vyas's music is characterized by its use of traditional Gujarati folk melodies and instruments. He was also a gifted lyricist, and his songs often had a social or political message. He was a pioneer in the field of Gujarati film music, and his work helped to shape the sound of Gujarati cinema.
